NDC Annual Wrap-up

Neighborhood Development Company (NDC) had a busy year full of developments (pun intended) that maintained our trajectory of success. We continued on our mission to offer housing and commercial opportunities to people in the DMV, particularly in areas that are underserved, with innovative design and construction. Here are a few of the major landmarks of the past year.

Park27 Achieves Occupancy

Fulfilling its three-fold mission of People, Planet, and Profit, NDC completed and sold out the Park27 development, delivering 26 residential units to Ward 7. Distinguished by their high quality, these affordable housing units are a mix of studios and 3-bedroom units, featuring spacious layouts with sleek finishes. Park27 is surrounded by parks, close to public transportation, and near restaurants and shopping. This addition to the East Anacostia Community is a welcome contribution to fulfilling Mayor Murial Bowser’s housing goals.

Groundbreaking of First-of-its-Kind 34Fifty Project

On July 13, 2023, NDC held a groundbreaking ceremony for a public-private residential development project located at 3450 Eads Street in Ward 7. As a first Passive House Institute Certified construction, 34Fifty is a 100% affordable housing development. This project will be completed with a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar panels, and performance windows to create a net-zero building that will save residents significantly in utility costs as well as benefit the planet. As another new project in Ward 7, 34Fifity continues the NDC focus on sustainability and environmental consciousness in affordable housing.

Ward 8 Transformed by High Street Development

In a collaboration that reflects NDC’s commitment to work in the community to benefit its long-term members, the High Street Development will bring townhouse style homes with views of the harbor to residents of Anacostia. With attention to preserving the historical flavor of the area, the design will be consistent with existing architecture, which has been made possible by collaborating with the Historical Anacostia Preservation Society, among other entities who advised and approved the NDC design.

Turning St. Elizabeth’s Campus Into A Community Hub

NDC is developing a 7-story mixed-use, mixed-income project that will contribute to housing and community development in Ward 8. With approximately 21,000 square feet of Class-A retail space St. Elizabeth’s Parcel 13 is an important realization of the goals of this designated opportunity zone.

Takoma Park DC Has a New Place to Live and Work in the Arbor

The historic, vibrant Takoma Park neighborhood in Washington, DC, is the location of The Arbor, a mixed-use project that is nearing full occupancy. A stone’s throw from the Metro and close to the many shops and restaurants in the community, the Arbor is an ideal location for its new residents.

We are proud of our achievements this year, and we look forward to more exciting news to share later in 2024. If you would like to know more about any of our projects, please contact us today.
