April 1 Ribbon Cutting Caps the Grand Opening Park 27

Neighborhood Development Company celebrated the Grand Opening of its Park27 project on April 1, joined by city representatives, project partners, and the general public. Located in Twining, this development consists of condominiums, distinguished by their high quality and affordability. “Park27 will provide homeownership opportunities to District residents whose income has made participating in the American dream impossible,” says Adrian G. Washington, founder, and CEO of NDC. Ramon Jacobson, Executive Director of LISC, agreed, noting “26 new homeowners will have a permanent stake in Twining and be able to raise families and contribute to the renaissance of the neighborhoods East of the Anacostia River.”

Park27 consists of Studios and 3-Bedroom Duplexes. Each unit is designed to be an oasis of urban living, with high-quality, sleek finishing, and ample natural light. “We believe that affordable housing doesn’t have to feel cheap,” says Washington, “all homeowners deserve to enjoy their home and their community with the best of modern building technology. The buildings are Enterprise Green Community / Energy Star Certified.

With a home in Ward 7, Park27 is surrounded by parks, within walking distance to Potomac Avenue Metro Station, and directly accessible to a priority corridor of Metrobus Routes. Residents can take advantage of the adjacent commercial corridor, like MLK Gateway, which offers restaurants, coffee shops, and more. The nearby amenities include the Anacostia Art Center, the Smithsonian Anacostia Museum, the Anacostia House, 11th Street Bridge Park, the BIG Chair, Capitol River Front, and Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens.

A public-private partnership, Park27 is part of a concerted effort to revitalize the neighborhood without displacing its residents. “We see Park27 as an anchor of intergenerational wealth made accessible to an underserved community,” says Washington. According to Washington DC Commissioner, Travis R. Swanson, “Affordable housing is a tool that can help create homeownership opportunities while not displacing long-term residents of the community. I’m thrilled to see that this project will offer 100% of their units as affordable units for the community.”

At the ribbon cutting ceremony, Adrian G. Washington and NDC were joined by Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent C. Gray; DHCD Director Drew Hubbard; Commissioner Travis R. Swanson; Executive Director of LISC, Ramon Jacobson; Founder and CEO of The Menkiti Group and MG Residential, Bo Menkiti, and community members as well as representatives and partners of the project.

The sale of all duplex condos and studios at Park27 will be provided exclusively by MG Residential in addition to homeowner education services and all marketing for the project.
